Artist Talk Samuel Hindolo
Samuel Hindolo (b. 1990, Maryland, United States) is a painter based between New York and Brussels. He occasionally works in video, photography, sculpture, and sound. His work makes use of art historical references, filmic tropes, and personal experiences to examine the limitations of perception in the everyday act of looking. More recently Hindolo presented an exhibition in two parts entitled Eurostar at 15 Orient and Galerie Buchholz in New York (2024). Depictions of indeterminate figures in passageways, storefronts, arenas, etcetera are shown next to adumbrated photo montages and geometric abstractions. Hindolo received his MFA from Bard College in 2021. Recent solo exhibitions took place at his representing galleries Daniel Buchholz (New York, Berlin, Cologne) and 15orient (New York). His work is included in ‘Painting After Painting’ at SMAK (Ghent, 2025) and ‘The Gatherers’ at MoMA PS1 (New York, 2025) .
