With great sadness we say farewell to Marcel Vos, who passed away on July 19th, 2018. Art critic and tutor Marcel Vos (b. 1942, Lichtenvoorde) was director of De Ateliers from 1984 to 1995. For many years, he was also part of the team of tutor artists. For some participants, the studio conversations with Vos were amongst the best De Ateliers could offer. Marcel Vos wrote distinctive essays on Jan Dibbets, Toon Verhoef, Ben Akkerman, Marien Schouten, Marlene Dumas, Robert Zandvliet and other artists from De Ateliers. His reviews and essays were published in exhibition catalogues worldwide, in Dutch daily NRC Handelsblad and art magazine Metropolis M.
