FAQ applications

Questions about the application form

Can I upload a letter of recommendation?
No, we do not accept letters of recommendation.

What if I don’t fit within one ‘main area of work’?
Categorizing the applications according to ‘main area of work’ is mostly an administrative strategy to process all applications, and does not limit your possibilities. Please select all other areas you work in at the question ‘Other area(s) of work (if applicable)’. Participants of De Ateliers can work across all and any area of work.

What should I put on my CV?
The CV we would like you to upload should give us an overview of your education and professional and/or extra-curricular experience(s). This does not have to be confined to the field of art.

Questions about the programme

How much experience should I have before I apply to De Ateliers?
Since the programme is for artists at the beginning of their professional career, it is not necessary to have had exhibitions and/or received awards etc. to be considered.

Can I apply multiple times?
We accept more applications from the same artist. However, as you might know from your previous application, the programme at De Ateliers is focused on artists at the start of their professional career. Do you feel that you still fit the description of a starting artist? If so, then you are most welcome to apply. Do make sure to apply with new, recent work.

Can I visit De Ateliers for a tour and to discuss my application?
Because of the high number of applicants, we do not facilitate individual tours or meetings. However, you can visit De Ateliers during the Open Day on December 12, 2024, or talk to us online during the Online Open Day on Thursday December 19, 202. You are also most welcome to visit De Ateliers during public events, such as Offspring or our twice-yearly series of artist talks. Woonhuis, the exhibition space attached to De Ateliers, also has regular activities throughout the year. Please check the website to remain updated.

Can I apply to De Ateliers as a non-visual artist/musician/dancer/writer/poet?
The programme at De Ateliers is meant for visual artists only. This means that artists working within other disciplines are advised to apply only if there is a significant visual art component to their practice as well.

Can I apply without the application form or outside the application period?
We only accept applications made through the application form, during the application period. We do not respond to applications sent by email or through any other means, nor do we respond to any unsolicited propositions for exhibitions, performances, etc.
