Lucy Stein (b.1979, Oxford, UK), lives in London

Former participant of De Ateliers Lucy Stein makes colourful paintings and drawings featuring girls and women, sometimes infused with self-mockery, sometimes with an all-pervading sense of darkness. Deploying an array of figures blended with hedonism and humour, Stein reveals abiding sensitivities and fears. Lucy Stein had solo exhibitions at Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (2006), Galerie Martin van Zomeren (Amsterdam, 2007, 2010, 2012) and Broadway 1601 (New York, 2007, 2009). She is represented by Gimpel Fils (London) and Gregor Staiger Galerie (Zürich).
