Indian Summer 2016: artist talk Keren Cytter
Keren Cytter (b.1977, Tel Aviv, Israel), lives in New York
Former participant of De Ateliers Keren Cytter is known for her experimental films and video installations. Her text based films consist of multiple layers of images and conversations, monologues and narrations, fragments composed to undermine linguistic conventions of storytelling in order to reveal the psycho-political dimensions of human relationships. Cytter had solo shows in Halle für Kunst und Medien (Graz, 2016), Centre for Contemporary Art (Kitakyushu, 2015), NICC (Brussels, 2015), Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago, 2015), Kunsthall Charlottenburg (Copenhagen, 2014), Art Space (Houston, 2012), Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam, 2011), Kunstverein München (2011), Moderna Museet (Stockholm, 2010) and Hammer Museum (Los Angeles, 2010). Her films were included in biennials in Venice, Busan, Lyon, Moscow, Yokohama, Tel Aviv, Gwangju, Marrakesh and Liverpool. She also makes drawings, paintings, photos, she is the author of four novels and founder of the dance theatre group D.I.E. Now. The artist is represented by Zach Feuer (New York), Pillar Corrias (London) and Nagel Draxler (Cologne/Berlin).
