Artist Talk Huw Lemmey
Huw Lemmey (b. Barrow-in-Furness, UK, 1986) is a novelist, artist and critic living in Barcelona. He is the co-author, with writer Ben Miller, of the book Bad Gays: A Homosexual History (Verso Books, 2022), based on the popular podcast of the same name. He is the author of three novels: Unknown Language (Ignota Books 2020), Red Tory: My Corbyn Chemsex Hell (Montez Press, 2019), and Chubz: The Demonization of my Working Arse (Montez Press, 2016). His film, Ungentle, was released in 2022.
Huw writes on culture, sexuality and cities for the Guardian, Frieze, Flash Art, Tribune, TANK, The Architectural Review, Art Monthly, and ArtReview, amongst others. He writes the regular essay series on sex and culture utopian drivel. As an artist and filmmaker, his work has been shown at Studio Voltaire, the ICA, Lux Biennial of Moving Image, Mumok Vienna, Warsaw Museum of Contemporary Art and the Design Museum, London.
