Artist Talk Anthea Hamilton
Anthea Hamilton (1978, London, VK), lives in London
Anthea Hamilton is known for her arrangement of objects, sculptures, costumes and images in immersive installations. The British artist mines many heterogeneous image sources frequently. Her sometimes surreal and humourous works hold an internal logic, based on the cultural connections between objects and the shifting usage of imagery. She was shortlisted for the Turner Prize 2016. Recent soloshows of Anthea Hamilton were held at Secession (Vienna, 2018), Tate Britain (London, 2018), The Hepworth Wakefield (2016), Serpentine Sackler Gallery (London, 2016), Schinkel Pavilion (Berlin, 2016), Sculpture Center (Long Island, 2015) and ICA (London, 2015). She took part in the 10th Lyon Biennial, the 15th Gwanju Biennial and is currently participating in the 58th Venice Biennial. The artist is represented by Thomas Dane Gallery (London) and Kaufmann Repetto (Milan).
