The artist talk by Alexandra Bircken on Tuesday April 4th 2017 is postponed to fall 2017 on request of the artist.
Reto Pulfer will take her place in the Spring Blossom 2017 series.
Self-taught artist Reto Pulfer (b. 1981, Bern, Switzerland, lives in Berlin) constructs a kind of ‘total artworks’ combining installation, sculpture, painting, performance, music and architecture. He works with very simple techniques and basic materials, often recycled, such as bed sheets, cloth, paper and found objects. He aims to create a thorough sensorial ‘condition’, as he describes it, that visitors can experience and feel at ease with. Pulfer had solo exhibitions recently in Fórum Eugénio de Almeida (Évora, 2016), Centre international d’art et du paysage (Île de Vassivière, 2015), Spike Island (Bristol, 2015), Musée régional d’art contemporain Languedoc-Roussillon (Sérignan, 2015), CAC (Genève, 2015), Kunstverein Nürnberg (2014), Swiss Institute (New York, 2013), Istituto Svizzero di Roma (Milan, 2011) and Museum für Angewandte Kunst (Vienna, 2011). The artist is represented by Hollybush Gardens (London).
