Armando (1929-2018)
Artists, staff and board of De Ateliers pay their last respect to Armando (1929, Amsterdam – 2018, Potsdam). Armando was a painter, sculptor, poet, writer, violin player, as well as the creator of theatre performances and television programs. In the late 1950s he became known as a representative of the Dutch artists group Nul, associated with the international Zero movement. In recent decades, he mainly worked in Germany. Work of Armando is represented in collections of prominent museums such as the Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam) and Museum Boijmans van Beuningen (Rotterdam). The Armando Collection is housed in Museum Oud Amelisweerd (Bunnik). Museum Voorlinden (Wassenaar) will present a retrospective exhibition in 2019. Armando was a tutor artist at De Ateliers from 1980 to 1983.
