In Memoriam Jan van Munster (1939-2024)

Visual artist Jan van Munster passed away on May 28th, 2024. He was tutor artist at De Ateliers during the pioneering years of the artists institute, from 1968 to 1970. Van Munster is known for his minimalist sculptures that visualize energies such as electricity and brain activity. In and around his Water Tower in Zeeland, Van Munster created an ideal site for the production and presentation of art. His work is in collections of prominent museums such as Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam) Van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven) and Kröller-Müller Museum (Otterlo). The artist is represented by Slewe Gallery, Amsterdam, where Van Munsters last pieces will be on show in December 2024.
